In 1969, Seiko introduced the world’s first automatic chronograph with both a vertical clutch and column wheel, known as the Seiko Speedtimer. A notable piece from the inaugural 6139 Speedtimer series gained fame as the first automatic chronograph to travel in space. In the 1970s, NASA astronaut Colonel William Pogue took this original chronograph on a mission to Skylab, the first US space station, earning it the nickname ‘Pogue’ after its intrepid wearer. Beneath a curved sapphire crystal lies a vivid yellow dial, true to the original 6139 design. This faithful recreation features a bright red second hand and subdial minute hand at 6 o'clock. Twelve spots of Lumibrite on the wide vintage-style indices ensure legibility in low light. The watch retains the original's blue and red aluminum bezel with a tachymeter and a chronometer second scale on the inner dial ring. The bracelet tapers from the lugs to the buckle for a comfortable fit. This modern version is powered by the V192 solar chronograph calibre, which charges in both natural and artificial light. It boasts an accuracy of +/- 15 seconds per month and a power reserve of 6 months when fully charged. • Powered by the solar powered movement with a power reserve of up to 6 months. • Presented on a silver stainless steel bracelet with push button deployment clasp. • Scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass. • 41.4mm case width. • 100 metre water resistance.
